How to Use FineCut8 for Illustrator to Create Stunning Cutouts

FineCut8 is a powerful plug-in software that enables you to design and create cutting data on Adobe IllustratorÂ, one of the most popular vector graphics software in the world. With FineCut8, you can easily cut out any shape or pattern from various materials, such as vinyl, paper, fabric, leather, etc. You can also use FineCut8 to create contour cut stickers, decals, labels, logos, and more.

In this article, we will show you how to use FineCut8 for Illustrator to create stunning cutouts in a few simple steps. You will need a Mimaki cutting plotter or printer that is compatible with FineCut8, such as the UCJV300 Series, the CJV300 Series, or the CG-FXII Series. You will also need a legitimate version of Adobe Illustrator and FineCut8 installed on your computer.

Step 1: Create or Open Your Design on Illustrator

The first step is to create or open your design on Illustrator. You can use any tools or features that Illustrator offers to create your design, such as shapes, paths, text, images, gradients, etc. You can also import or place existing files from other sources, such as PDF, EPS, SVG, etc.

Make sure that your design fits within the artboard size and the cutting area of your Mimaki device. You can check the cutting area by selecting Window > FineCut8 > Cutting Area from the menu bar. You can also adjust the artboard size by selecting File > Document Setup from the menu bar.

Step 2: Set Up Your Cutting Parameters on FineCut8

The next step is to set up your cutting parameters on FineCut8. You can access FineCut8 by selecting Window > FineCut8 > Cut/Plot from the menu bar. A new window will open where you can configure various settings for your cutting job.

The most important settings are:

Cut Line: This is where you specify which parts of your design you want to cut out. You can choose from three options: All, Selected Object, or Layer. If you choose All, FineCut8 will cut out everything on your artboard. If you choose Selected Object, FineCut8 will cut out only the objects that you have selected on Illustrator. If you choose Layer, FineCut8 will cut out only the objects that belong to a specific layer that you have named as CutContour.

Cut Mode: This is where you specify how you want your Mimaki device to cut out your design. You can choose from four options: Normal Cut, Weed Border Cut, Half Cut, or Perf Cut. If you choose Normal Cut, FineCut8 will cut out your design completely through the material. If you choose Weed Border Cut, FineCut8 will add a small border around your design to make it easier to weed out the excess material. If you choose Half Cut, FineCut8 will cut out your design partially through the material, leaving a thin backing layer intact. This is useful for creating stickers or decals that can be peeled off easily. If you choose Perf Cut, FineCut8 will cut out your design with small perforations along the cut line. This is useful for creating tear-off coupons or tickets.

Cut Condition: This is where you specify the speed and pressure of your Mimaki device when cutting out your design 061ffe29dd
